Description

A rich and creamy Philly cheese sauce perfect for cheesesteaks, dips, and more.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup Provolone cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup American cheese, shredded
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: pinch of nutmeg or paprika

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add flour and whisk until golden, about 2 minutes.
  3. Gradually add milk while whisking to avoid lumps. Stir until thickened.
  4. Add cheese a handful at a time, stirring until melted.
  5. Season with salt, pepper, and optional spices. Serve warm.

Notes

For variations, try using different cheeses, adding spices for heat, or incorporating herbs.
