A rich and creamy Philly cheese sauce perfect for cheesesteaks, dips, and more.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup Provolone cheese, shredded
- 1 cup American cheese, shredded
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: pinch of nutmeg or paprika
Instructions
- Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
- Add flour and whisk until golden, about 2 minutes.
- Gradually add milk while whisking to avoid lumps. Stir until thickened.
- Add cheese a handful at a time, stirring until melted.
- Season with salt, pepper, and optional spices. Serve warm.
