Description

Bundt cakes are making a comeback thanks to their aesthetic appeal, ease of baking, and versatility in flavors.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup fresh fruit (for variation, like blueberries or raspberries)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour a Bundt pan thoroughly.
  3. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  7. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture alternately with milk, starting and ending with flour.
  8. If desired, gently fold in fresh fruit.
  9. Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan and smooth the top.
  10. Bake for 40-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  11. Let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Be sure to grease the pan well to prevent sticking. Experiment with glazes for added flavor and aesthetics.
